Top Shelf is notable for its very large, flavorful, firm fruit. This variety has become a favorite for many growers with its upright and easy-to-prune habit. The very large berry size is a key characteristic of this variety with consistent quality and fruit uniformity from the beginning of the harvest season to the end. The fruit is very attractive with berries that are flat, big and light blue with a lot of bloom. Top Shelf has shown susceptibility to Botriospheria, especially in growing conditions that are too wet with high applications of nitrogen. We have seen evidence that Top Shelf is more cold-hardy than expected with very little, if any, winter damage even with very low temperature of -20°C. We recommend Top Shelf for commercial plantings in Central Europe.
