Released in 2017, Fall Creek’s Valor® ‘ZF08-070’ stands out as a growers’ variety with high marks for cold hardiness, fruit sizing, ease of picking and yield. Flavor and firmness are more comparable to Legacy than Draper. The first commercial fields planted with Valor® ‘ZF08-070’ are relatively new, but initial observations confirm what has been observed at the Oregon Research Farm. The plants grow with a very vigorous, upright growth habit, are relatively easy to grow and productive. Valor® ‘ZF08-070’ berries are very large and are a customer favorite during field visits. The very young plants in commercial fields seem to withstand low winter temperatures without cold damage. Valor® ‘ZF08-070’ fills a need for a more cold-hardy, multi-purpose, mid-season variety in Central and Northern Europe.
